Felicia,

Nice photos today!

I just saw a bird in my backyard that I've never seen before. It was a deep gray with a black cap. It was pecking at the ground. I looked in My Florida Bird book but didn't see it. I Googled gray birds with black caps and found the Catbird which looks like the bird I saw. Have you seen these birds up here? I'm south of Orange Park.

Thanks, Patti

Hi Patti,

Your description definitely sounds like a Gray Catbird--they're great birds, and actually do sound a bit like cats!

Hi Dawn,

It is starting to feel and sound like spring here--can't wait for all the migrating warblers to start passing through!

....I LOVED visiting your part of the world. I saw lots of these three birds last week. Your captures are beautiful. The little Palm Warblers were everywhere, as well as the Yellow Rumps. They even showed up at outdoor restaurants. I was so sad to leave...... It's rainy and cold here. Oh well, what can you do!

Lucky you!! I spotted a Black & White Warbler in the woods and by the time I got back with the camera it was gone...only one I've ever seen in my back yard...

Kelly,

So glad you got to come down here to visit! Funny, I love reading blogs by birders from other places (like yours) to see what's going on elsewhere—and right now, everyone's vacationing in Florida!

Carol,

I still haven't gotten a Black-and-white in my yard--but since they're here year-round, there's hope!
